No problem what so ever:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>RateIt with label on the side</title>
    <link href="http://www.radioactivethinking.com/rateit/src/rateit.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
  </head>
  <body>
    <div>
      <div class="rateit">
      </div>
      <span class="rateit-hover-label">
    </div>
    <div>
      <div class="rateit" data-rateit-min="0" data-rateit-max="3" data-rateit-value="2" data-rateit-step="1">
      </div>
      <span class="rateit-hover-label">
      </span>
    </div>

      <script src="http://www.radioactivethinking.com/rateit/src/jquery.rateit.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
      <script>
        //now we bind to the hover event of each rateit control on the page
        $('.rateit').bind('hover', function(e, value) {
            var text = "";
            if (value != null)
              text = 'You\'re are now hovering over ' + value;

            $(this).next().text(text);
          //$(this) => the current rateit div
          //.next() => the next element, my span
          //.text() => setting the text of the span with the value retrieved that was passed as the second parameter.

        });
      </script>
  </body>

</html>
