Problems with Chrome 15th July

Jul 15, 2011 at 12:26 PM

On line your live demonstration - example.htm works well in Chrome.

When I download the zip file and unpack it it works in Mozilla Firefox, but not in Chrome.

I noted some minor differences between the two versions but was not able to resolve the problem.

The online version was an older version. I’ve updated the online version, and with me it works fine in Chrome/

I have tested again, online your version works in all the browsers that I try,

When I download your zip file, unpack,  it displays correctly in Firefox, IE and Opera, but not in Chrome (have downloaded again)

If I put these files online I still see the same problem. It would suggest that somewhere there is a discrepancy between the files on your server and the download zip

In Chrome when I look at 2a, instead of the row of stars I see a slider.

in 2b instead of the row of stars I see a drop down box -

I am using Chrome 12.0.742.122 with no plugins

I just downloaded the online version, and also tested in the browsers you said, and it works ok.

Cache? Check in the source file that you're working with RateIt 1.0.2

The problem you explain sound like you are using RateIt 1.0.1 with jQuery 1.6.2

You said you placed it online, can you post the url , so I can check as well?

I have only downloaded today from your page headed 1.0.2

javascript console in Chrome gives Uncaught referenceError: $ is not defined (anonymous function ) at lines eample.htm lines 149,177,360,378,430,450

Also jQuery not defined in jquery.rateit.js line 9

Your files are at http://www.peter-thomson.co.uk/rateittest/example/example.htm

You can browse this directory to pick up the associated files. This is your downloaded files, unzipped, directory structure retained, and uploaded.

I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

Though it sounds like somehow jQuery is missing. Check in the network tab of the dev tools if it downloaded jQuery.

Problem solved:  jQuery has not been available from http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js today

I have replaced it with http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.2.min.js and everything works again

The other browsers must have been using a cached copy but I develop using Chrome so was clearing cache.

Your online site also stopped working after I cleared cache again.

I must alter my code to point to a copy on my own website!

Thanks for an excellent bit of software

That's bad, I normally reference Googles CDN, because supposedly it's reliable.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment.
